Throwback Thursday – June 26, 2014
Here’s what I was doing around this time last year:
Grant Thomas draws Green Arrow in his sketchbook (and uses the Book of Common Prayer as a paper weight)
45 minutes of drawing compressed into 6 minutes
More practice sketching . . .
Mary Marvel: The Mightiest Girl on Earth
I always felt like Mary Marvel got ripped off. Billy Batson says “SHAZAM!” and he turns into a muscular grown man, but poor Mary only turns into middle school kid when she speaks the name of the wizard.
I decided to set things right and put her in her early 20s.
You can buy prints of Mary Marvel in blue or green at my Society6 store.

Image Research
Here’s a little glimpse of some of the images I’ve bee collecting as I research for various projects.
John Bauer makes the greatest Trolls I’ve ever seen. I wonder Bauer’s illustrations had an influence on Brian Froud‘s work on Labyrinth.
