Cupid and Psyche
The story of Cupid and Psyche may be the oldest version of the Beauty and the Beast story. ¬†There’s an enchanted castle with myterious servants and a host/abductor who becomes a lover.
I’ve mentioned before, that I am working on a story that is based on the Appalachian version of this story and I’ve been researching all the various permutations of the tale. ¬†I even created a pinterest board to collect my findings.
As part of my process, I copied part of this painting by Francois Gerard¬†because there is a scene I’ve been working on that alludes to some of the body language in the painting.
